About
My Story

A Slice of Éire was born from homesickness, memories of special human connections in Ireland, and a new hobby of 3D printing. After moving to Vancouver, Canada, I discovered 3D printing and quickly became fascinated by the idea of turning landscapes and places into something tangible. But while I was thousands of miles from Ireland, I also found myself feeling a much stronger connection to home. I missed the familiar landscapes, the people, the culture and that feeling of simply being Irish. So I decided to create something for myself. A 3D topographical map of Ireland that I could hang on my own wall in Vancouver. It was my little "Slice of Éire" in Canada. What started as a personal project soon turned into something much bigger. I realised I wasn't the only Irish person living abroad who felt that same pull towards home. Vancouver has a huge Irish community, and before long, Irish people from across Canada and eventually Australia, the USA, New Zealand and beyond were getting in touch wanting a piece of Ireland of their own. For many people, these maps became much more than just a decorative piece. They were a reminder of where they came from, the places they grew up, the landscape they loved and the people they left behind. Proudly hanging an Irish map on their wall became a way of keeping a little piece of home close, even when home was thousands of miles away. What began with one map made for myself eventually grew into hundreds of pieces hanging in homes, businesses and Irish pubs around the world. Each one carrying a little piece of Ireland with it. Because no matter how far you travel, there's always a little bit of Ireland that comes with you.
